For some time now, Du Corps à l'ouvrage has been manifesting itself in the middle depths of the brain's molecules and the synapses of the unconscious. Du Corps à l'ouvrage takes a rhizomatous, subterranean path. A slow-gestation creation, in no hurry to get an opinion.
In the loops of Régine Chopinot's trajectory, the creation of Végétal in 1995 with iconic Land Art artist Andy Goldsworthy and then the experience of the South Pacific between 2009 and 2018 with Very Wetr! and PMP have already confronted her with the demands of the outdoors. Du Corps à l'ouvrage will work outdoors with the desire to retrace her steps without ceasing to move backwards.
First residency on the hill at Châteauvallon Scène nationale, from October 30 to November 4, 2023.
Following in the footsteps of « top » 's last creation, which took place in September 2021, Régine Chopinot and a team of loyal collaborators are embarking on a new opus consisting of a long series of residencies lasting until the end of 2026, and beyond if need be.
At the invitation of Charles Berling, director of Châteauvallon-Liberté Scène nationale de Toulon, the very first week of work takes place from Monday October 30 to Saturday November 4; a 6-day week with on-site accommodation and the possibility of working under cover in the Baou studio.
One of the special features of Du Corps à l'ouvrage is that it takes place outdoors, even if it does not exclude the indoors, to move forward in a different way, or to take shelter in bad weather.
On the hill of Ollioules, above Toulon, Châteauvallon is a historic cultural center built on an exceptional site; the hiking trails are numerous, and we'll be standing on them, climbing, descending, inhaling, exhaling, mumbling strange chants of rhythmic breath. Dancing. Thinking. Listen. Resonate.
Most of the « top » team will be present, with the exception of Prunelle Bry and Tristan Bénon - to welcome the birth of their first child, Mellina Boubetra who is professionally occupied, and Nico Morcillo whose musical instrument - electric guitar - is not compatible with travelling outdoors, far from any power source.
Naoko Ishiwada, Nicolas Barillot, Sallahdyn Khatir, Vincent Kreyder, Deyvron Noël, Bekaye Diaby and Julien Roblès from the « top » team were also present.
Grégoire Vazzoler from Cornucopiae will accompany us.
The principle - the creation of « top » followed the same pattern - is to open up experimentation times to other artists, to encourage and clarify new encounters.
